Shamim Shakibai, MD, co-founded Platinum Medical Group, a company offering hospitalist services to hospitals in the Greater Los Angeles area, in 2010. Ten years later, Dr. Shamim Shakibai was instrumental in the sale of Platinum Medical Group to Sound Physicians. Since that time, he has launched two other healthcare-related firms.
Dr. Shakibai took his expertise in medicine to co-found MyPreOp in 2023. Today, he is the CEO of a company that works to standardize pre-operative medical evaluations and procedures. Additionally, the company makes the process of pre-operative evaluations convenient for patients by enabling them to test at home, getting directives through telemedicine.
In 2024, he founded Priventa Health, which is a nonprofit that provides Central and South Americans with primary access care. In his role as executive director, he organizes medical missions, fundraising, recruitment, and supervises the quality of care that patients receive.
His work in the community includes serving on the Professionals Without Borders board. He helped to establish Colegio Tarbiyat, a school in El Salvador, and supports charities like the immigrant rights nonprofit Tahirih Justice Foundation. He is involved with the Bahai Faith. Dr. Shakibai has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from California State University, Long Beach, and a medical degree from the University of California, Davis.
